Verse of the Day (NIV)

For you know that it was not with perishable things such as silver or gold that you were redeemed from the empty way of life handed down to you from your ancestors, but with the precious blood of Christ, a lamb without blemish or defect.

2025 Shoe Box Appeal

As a Church, we send several hundred shoeboxes to Blythswood Care every year.  In 2024 our Church sent 460 filled shoeboxes to them.  Our shoeboxes were collected on 21st October. In the last thirty years the charity has distributed more than 2.5 million boxes – each one different, each one personal, each one an expression of the care and kindness shown to a stranger in need.

Filled with small practical items such as toiletries, stationery and clothing, the individually-wrapped boxes are distributed in schools, hospitals, orphanages, care homes and to households in very low income communities. Last year many shoeboxes went to people affected by the war in Ukraine.

Margo (pictured below) is now collecting for the 2025 shoebox appeal. Donations can be left at the back of the Church.  Thank you for your support.

A Charity lunch in the Church Hall on Friday 11th October raised a very generous £537.50 for the appeal.  Forty people tucked into home made soup, a roast beef lunch and banoffee trifle followed by tea or coffee.  A big thank you to Frinton Road Butchers for providing the meat and to the chef, our Minister Chris (pictured below) and his wonderful team of volunteers. The annual Holland Singers Concert in October 2024 raised £312.53 for the Shoe Box Appeal.
